Summary Description:
The Clinic Receptionist serves as the front-facing representative of the clinic by managing patient interactions, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks. This role also supports billing operations by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and assisting with claims processing.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients with professionalism and empathy
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars 
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
  • Verify insurance coverage and collect co-pays or outstanding balances
  • Assist with billing tasks such as charge entry, claims follow-up, and payment posting
  • Maintain accurate patient records and uphold HIPAA compliance
  • Coordinate with clinical and billing teams to ensure smooth patient flow and documentation
  • Monitor front desk inventory and maintain a clean, organized reception area
Skills and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience as a receptionist or in customer service
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and basic billing workflows
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality protocols
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and professionalism
  • Experience in healthcare front desk or patient-facing roles preferred
  • Familiarity with basic medical billing workflows, including charge entry and insurance verification, preferred
  • Understanding of commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payer requirements preferred
