Summary Description:
The Hospital Inpatient Coder provides support in various functions, including ensuring accurate hospital inpatient coding, resolving coding edits and rejections, and maintaining coding compliance. This role is critical in supporting onshore revenue cycle operations by enabling clean claim submission and maximizing appropriate reimbursement. This role involves coding, auditing, providing coding expertise, implementing process improvements, and staff training.

This role involves coding, auditing, providing coding expertise, implementing process improvements, and staff training.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Accurately code inpatient medical records per guidelines
- Review and resolve inpatient coding edits/denials
- Query physicians for clarification on documentation
- Ensure inpatient coding compliance and auditing
- Provide inpatient coding education and mentorship
- Assist in other duties as assigned
- 3-5 years of experience in medical coding and auditing
- In-depth knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement methodologies
- Specialized knowledge in coding for inpatient professional services
- Experience with complex inpatient coding scenarios
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- CIC, CPC-I or CCS and CPMA or CEMA is required
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail and good group presentation skills
